Exploring America one small town at a time makes me smile.

Natural areas beckon to my soul, drawing me in with their siren song of quiet, solitude, color, texture, botanical diversity and adventure.

I visited Great Basin National Park before it was a national park. I visited Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore before it was a national lakeshore.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park in Utah, Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado, Playalinda Dunes in Florida and the the Grand Sable Banks dunes in Michigan all have hosted my bare feet.

Road trips through Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, South Dakota and Nebraska have filled my camera with images of nature and history.

Road trips are rewarding.

Read about life on the road, about destinations, people and journeys.

Join me on true highways by reading reports about trips that really happened. And read about other trips that I only imagined. Memories age into a blend of reality and fiction. Some stories displayed here are straight fact. Some are straight fiction. Some are a blend of the two. Enjoy and ponder. And get out on the road.
